Scientific societies
Science lives from the exchange between scientists. A good place to exchange with like-minded people is a scientific society. Being part of a familiy (or several families) is important for your scientific development. Annual meetings of the societies are a great and important opportunity to present your research (on a poster or by giving a talk), and to meet and chat with old or new friends.
I recommend you to have a look at the following societies (a lot of useful information on the homepages!) and then chose some to become a member of - usually the fees for studends are extremely low, but you get a lot of benefits.
- The American Society of Pharmacognosy
- Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA)
- Deutsche Pharmazeutische Gesellschaft e.V.
- Gesellschaft Deutscher Chemiker
- Deutsche Gesellschaft für Massenspektrometrie
- Mass Spectrometry Imaging Society
- Vereinigung für Allgemeine und Angewandte Mikrobiologie (VAAM)
- Gesellschaft für Chemische Technik und Biotechnologie (DECHEMA)
