Drawing chemical structures

We use ChemDraw to draw chemical structures.

Please use the object settings "ACS Document 1996", as these are simply the most beautiful. You can conveniently set them as default style in "File - Preferences - Open/Save - Opening Files - Default Style Sheet", then browse to "C:\ProgramData\PerkinElmerInformatics\ChemOffice2016\ChemDraw\ChemDraw Items" (might be a hidden folder) and choose the ACS .cds style. To set this style for existing files, select your structures (ctrl + A) and go to "Object - Apply Object Setting From...".

Knowing how to draw structures efficiently and beautifully is important, because you will spend a lot of time doing it. We do not copy and paste structures from Wikipedia or publications - if you show structures in presentations or in your reports, you will draw them yourself.  :-)

Before starting to work with the software, you must make yourself familiar with it. Knowing all the features ChemDraw has to offer will make your life much easier (= structure drawing faster). A brilliant ressource for the first steps are the tutorials of ChemDrawWizard   . The ChemDraw Magic movies are a must see!
