Phytochemische Untersuchungen von Codiaeum-Arten und Isolierung von Substanzen mit Wirkung gegen Entamoeba histolytica aus Codiaeum variegatum

I am interested in the exploration of different plants belonging to the genus Codiaeum which may contain active compounds against Entamoeba histolytica/ Entamoeba dispar as well as other bacterial and fungal pathogens. In my previous research, a bioassay-guided fractionation of the aqueous extract of Codiaeum variegatum resulted in the isolation of the sub-fraction SF9B with significant higher efficacy compared to the unfractionated extract. So, I intend to isolate and characterize individual compounds within SF9B that contribute to the observed biological effects using various chromatographic techniques (e.g. Flash, liquid-liquid, size exclusion or high-performance liquid chromatography). The structures of the isolated compounds will be characterized using nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) and mass spectrometry (MS).
