- current focus: chemical and biological screening of actinomycete and cyanobacteria strains, fermentation of strains, isolation and structure elucidation of bioactive (esp. antiinfective and cytotoxic) natural products
- further projects: chemical interactions of (micro-)organisms; development of software tools to support structure elucidation of natural products; uptake and transport of natural products in the human body
