Wissenschaftliche Arbeit

Promotionsthema:

Sekundärmetabolite hypogäischer Pilze

The aim of my project is the isolation and characterization of new natural products investigating hypogeous fungi. My lab work comprises the generation of extracts and bioactivity tests against different pro- and eukaryotes. The bioactivity-guided fractionation of the extracts as well as the isolation of new natural products are carried out using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and other chromatographic techniques. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, tandem High Resolution Mass Spectrometry (HRMS), and other techniques are then used for structure elucidation of active compounds.

Another part of my project is the characteization of the interaction between a hypogeous fungus and its ascomycete parasite. This interaction is studied using microscopy, fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) and imaging mass spectrometry (Imaging-MS).
