PhD thesis:
Characterization of ant venoms
In the FOrmIdable project, I aim to elucidate Functions, Origins, and Identities of peptides contained in the highly acidic poisons of ants belonging to the subfamily of Formicinae.
Besides other methods, I will combine high-resolution tandem mass spectrometry and transcriptomics in order to achieve a comprehensive characterization of this complex biofluid.
Selected compounds will be synthesized using solid-phase peptide synthesis and evaluated in functional bioassays.
